Zero Light Pollution: Astrophotography and Stargazing at Dimer Char

“How an isolated coastal char in the Bay of Bengal transforms into a natural open planetarium beneath the galactic core.”

When the sun sinks beneath the horizon at Dimer Char, true darkness envelops the delta. Far from coastal cities and electrical grids, the sky reveals thousands of celestial points invisible from urban centers.

On clear autumn and winter nights, the Milky Way arches across the sky from horizon to horizon, reflected on the still surface of the outgoing tide. Our guest astronomers set up high-precision refractor telescopes on the top deck, providing views of Saturn's rings, the Orion Nebula, and deep-sky clusters that leave spectators breathless.
